Falls and falls-related injuries are serious issues for older people. In fact, over 30% of people over 65 experience a fall each year. For people over 80, that percentage rises to over 50%! It is extremely important, therefore, to take part in evidence-based exercises designed to prevent falls.
Gateshead Older People's Assembly is commissioned by Newcastle Gateshead Clinical Commissioning Group to deliver evidence-based falls prevention exercises within the borough of Gateshead. Our programme, Staying Steady, lasts for 20 weeks, with new cohorts starting each spring and autumn. The classes last approximately 1 1/2 hours and are made of up an exercise class followed by an education session. We are currently delivering Staying Steady classes in the following areas:

After that, you'll be added to the list for the next cohort. Staying Steady classes are FREE and spaces are limited, so please do reserve your place early by ringing 0191 438 1721.
