Gateshead Older People's Assembly is delighted to recruit to the newly created post of Community Engagement Officer. This post, which is initially funded for two years, underpins our asset-based approach to supporting people aged 50 and over to improve and maintain their health and wellbeing.
We are a small charity. We have a very small team. But we make a tremendous impact and we’re seeing incredible growth each year. In 2018/19, for example, attendances at our classes and groups rose by 38% to nearly 18,000 and we anticipate a similar level of growth for 2019/20.
We have been recognised on local and national levels for the positive impact of our work and we are keen to recruit a Community Engagement Officer who sees their role as more than just a series of tasks to be completed. We are passionate about our work and we truly love what we do. We’re looking for someone who feels the same.
Hours: 37.5 per week
Salary: £23,400 per annum

Our Community Engagement Officer will focus on four key areas:
This role is extremely flexible in nature and will require the post holder to be proactive in identifying opportunities to engage with beneficiaries and potential partners. You will be based in our Deckham hub for up to one day per week, spending the rest of your time out in the field working across the entire borough of Gateshead. Occasional evening and weekend work will be necessary in order for you to achieve the objectives of this role.
