Suspension of Deckham activities

In light of the recent global outbreak of Coronavirus, Gateshead Older People’s Assembly will be suspending all activities at our centre in Deckham Village Hall with immediate effect.

This decision has not been taken lightly as the risk remains relatively small at this time. However, even a small risk is enough for us to take the decision to postpone all activities at our centre – especially as there is a strong likelihood that the risk will escalate in the coming days and weeks. Many of our beneficiaries are in the most vulnerable age group and their health and safety is of paramount importance.

We will endeavour to inform all of our beneficiaries about this decision over the weekend. If you know someone who attends one of our activities, please let them know. Gateshead Older People’s Assembly staff will still be working in the centre for the time being.

If you are one of our beneficiaries and you need anything or if you just want someone to talk to, please call us on 0191 438 1721.

Again, this decision has not been taken lightly and we apologise for any disruption this causes. We will use all of our social media platforms to inform all beneficiaries when we open again and will individually contact beneficiaries who we know aren’t on social media.

We look forward to welcoming everyone back to our Deckham wellness hub as soon as possible.  In the meantime, please look after yourselves and those around you.
